Sunset Aisle

Using my signature motif—the isolated astronaut—to construct a profound visual metaphor for the AuDHD (Autism and ADHD) lived experience. Moving away from prior themes focused on protective, reflective visors, this work shifts to a raw, first-person perspective on navigation, sensory processing, and environmental transition.

The composition places the viewer directly behind a blue-and-white outlined explorer, moving down a narrow street toward a mysterious, circular blue portal. The surrounding architecture is deliberately warped, organic, and bulging—a literal translation of sensory spatial distortion where physical environments carry intense, overwhelming weight. Bright neon geometric blocks jut out from the buildings like hyper-fixation nodes, competing for attention amidst the intense, warm gradient of the sky.

The dynamic tension of the AuDHD mind is laid bare on the canvas. The clean, calculated linework of the figure represents a profound need for structure and predictability, while the fluid, chaotic energy of the warped street captures a world of sensory overload. By leaving the final portal entirely unknown and shrouded in deep blue, the painting ultimately mirrors the courage of a neurodivergent mind navigating a blind transition—seeking a clean slate, escaping the sensory noise of the present, and stepping bravely into the mystery of what comes next.
